Feb 10 - Finishing up Chakra 1

The second class was part two of the Muladara.  We started with meditation at 8am and Pretzel taught us some Pranayam building on the first class.  I tried doing some of the meditation homework but it was so much more easier to have her guiding the meditation than doing it on my own.

We attended two hour and fifteen minutes classes which sandwiched more focused poses based on the root chakra.  She also started having us learn the Sanskrit names for the poses and begin to physically adjust others in the class.  It felt like things were moving fast!  We already were expected to know stuff!

My favorite posture of the day was doing a triangle pose (which I often struggle to do correctly) with a bean bag under my chin to practice alignment.

Our homework was to continue meditation and also start reading the foreward of Light on Yoga by Iyenger.  Pretzel said she has read so many books and listened to so many lectures (she describes herself as a "seeker") and that if you carefully read the foreward of that book, she said you don't need to read anything else!  That sounded worth it.  She introduced us to the first limb of yoga - the yamas.

We finished up at 6pm and I was totally beat.   Chakra 1 complete!

This is the symbol for the root chakra - Muladhara.
