Feb 24 - All I Was Doing Was Being

The following Sunday we met in Berkeley in the the evening for Indian food and then headed to Yoga Tree on Telegraph for a "chanting workshop."  It was led by Sean Feit who is a yoga/meditation teacher and was formerly a monk in Burma.  He talked about Bhakti Yoga - which essentially refers to a deep devotion to God.  It was one of the more religious feeling yoga experiences I have had.  He told some stories from ancient Hindu scriptures including the Gita and described in detail the moment where Meerabai (a devotee of Krishna) first saw lord Krishna and immediately fell in love with him after one glimpse of his "dancing energy."  She described that "all she was doing was being" when she saw him and been so  profoundly touched with such a deep love and devotion.  I liked the idea of simply being and accepting what may come with that - and that it could be life changing!

Sean led some chants and kirtan mixed with some cool drum beats played by a friend of his.  There was a really cool energy in the room - which was decorated in peacock feathers!
